ugh, my jeans are COVERED in cat hair.
I just came down from grooming Kiwi, and I got alot of hair off her... I've got some pictures.
Kiwi has been acting really crazy today...... and I mean more than normal. haha. Everyone was saying "What is up with her?" she was running around... chirping and "BRR!"-ing (IDK what thats called) jumping right over chairs, jumping on and off my bed... and just racing around.
I think she has a little cold... she's got some sniffly sneezing things going on. So now everyone has got the flu except me haha. I don't know if cats get colds from humans... I've heard that they can but I'm not sure.
I was watching animal planet this morning, not sure if you've heard of the show "Animals at work" but there was a cat named Lilly who's job was sampling cat food... smoothies, actually. One of the smoothies had fish, coconut milk, and bananas in it, among other things. It seemed to be liked by cats and so i looked into bananas in a cats diet. Obviously cats are mainly meat eaters, but from what I saw online alot of people's cats really love bananas. Some cat medecine is banana flavoured, too. I thought that interesting and so I gave a teeny bit of banana to Kiwi and she wouldn't take it, so I put a bit on her nose so she licked it. I wouldn't say she was crazy for it, but some cats like things that others don't. Tell me if your cat likes bananas I would like to hear about that. I have yet to try coconut milk. It's lactose free so it should be good.
ALRIGHT now for the cat products.
From left to right.....
1. The Kong Zoom Groom. I got this for Christmas, and along with the FURminator, It is a great tool for shed control. I find that this rubber brush Is good for Removing the loose guard hairs, while the Furminator is good for removing loose undercoat. It is also pretty inexpensive.
2. Allerpet/C. There's allerpet/c (for cats) And Allerpet/D (dogs) i find this a very good product... as some of you know, Caleb and I are allergic to cats, Caleb more so as he has athsma. We used this often the first month or so that we had Kiwi, untill we became immune to her specific Fel d 1 allergen. Every once in a while if i'm having a bit of an allergic reaction, which it rare now, I put it on her. It is used by dampening a face-cloth with the allerpet and rubbing it into her hair, down to the skin.
3. The FURminator. This is an amazing tool and probably the best brush ever to control shedding. It's 40-50 dollars, but totally worth it. This was one of the first things I bought before bringing Kiwi home. Pictures at bottom of page to show how much hair it removes.
4. Ah, yes, the FURminator hairball prevention spray. This is a waterless shampoo that helps with shedding, and I use it between Kiwi's baths. It smells really nice too.
5. Finally, Whisker City Raspberry scented Moisturizing and conditioning shampoo. This helps with shedding, allergens, and it even repells insects. It makes Kiwi's coat very soft and she smells great for days after. it is a frequent use, pretty inexpensive shampoo. I've had it scince I got Kiwi and as you see, it's lasting a while. :)
This is the amount of hair I got off Kiwi today.
this is the amount of hair I've got off of Kiwi in the past few FURminatings.
